3D Cone Beam Dental Imaging

We now offer to our patients a new procedure called a 3D Cone Beam Dental scan.

This new breakthrough 3D dental imaging technology allows us to plan your dental implant surgery using a powerful computer programme.

Utilising a 3D cone beam  scan in your treatment process allows our dentist to:

  • Plan treatment and surgery
  • Prepare necessary aids
  • Assess risk
  • Analyze the position and orientation of critical structures, like nerves, teeth roots, previous implants, the sinus and nose

The scan is acquired simply by seating you in a comfortable chair while the 3D machine rotates 360 degrees around your head. Combined with a digital computer, clear images of the teeth, bone, blood vessels and different types of tissue can be produced Unlike many other technologies, this procedure is non-invasive and often uses up to 33 times less radiation than medical spiral CT.

The scan will take a mere 20 seconds. If you like, you can even review your 3D scan on our large computer screen. Our appointments average 15 minutes from start to finish.

Increasingly, dentists require these high tech three dimensional scans in order to provide the highest level of care. Traditional dental x-rays frequently fail to highlight or may even misrepresent critical bone and anatomical structure that may change your treatment.

This new 3D CT technology enables your dentist to properly pre-plan your case, virtually on a computer, prior to treatment. This process also helps minimize "surprises" during your actual procedure, helping ensure a successful outcome.
